The $5.56 million project includes milling and resurfacing, guiderail, minor drainage, curbs, pavement markings, signing, traffic signals, median removal, ADA ramps and other improvements on 2.55 miles of Washington Road from the intersection of Conner/Gilkeson (Route 3038) roads to Alfred Street. The prime contractor is Lindy Paving.

Overall work will conclude in early 2014.

To help keep motorists informed as work continues PennDOT has created an email distribution list for Washington Road traffic advisories and construction updates. Enroll by sending email addresses tostcowan@pa.gov and writing “Subscribe – Washington Road” in the subject line.

PennDOT is also reminding motorists to use all open lanes to the merge point. Be courteous to other motorists and allow them to merge. The effectiveness of traffic flow in work zones is highly dependent on driver behavior. Using all lanes and allowing a consistent, courteous merge will reduce congestion and delay and help traffic move through the work zone.
