Upper St. Clair Loses Population, Grows More Diverse

See the results of the 2010 census.

The 2010 census results reported a population decrease in both Upper St. Clair and Allegheny County.

The newly released data found Upper St. Clair's population stood at 19,229 in 2010, down from 20,053 in 2000. That is a decrease of 824 people, or approximately 4.1 percent.

Upper St. Clair's population is similar to the drop found in Allegheny County. Total population in 2010 was 1,223,348, a decrease of approximately 4.6 percent.

Neighboring Washington County saw an increase in population in 2010. The total was 207,820, which is a 2.4 percent increase from 2000.

However, the census data found that the Upper St. Clair population grew more diverse. In 2000, 4 percent of the population was Asian. Ten years later, Asians make up 5.6 percent of the population.
