Upper St. Clair Honors New Eagle Scout

Kirk Richard Egeland, of Scout Troop #366, received a proclamation from Upper St. Clair last week for achieving scouting's highest ranking.

Egeland, a junior at Upper St. Clair High School, completed his Eagle Scout project at Beverly Heights Church in Mt. Lebanon. He spent 114 hours managing 25 volunteers landscaping and installing a safe footpath for church and community members.

In addition to Egeland's dedication to Boy Scouts, he is also involved in the church's youth group and hold two jobs—one as a technical aide for his church and the other with a local nursery.

Egeland also enjoys music. He plays the electric guitar in his church worship band, the tuba in the school's marching band and wind ensemble and the bass trombone in the jazz band.

In college, Egeland plans to pursue mechanical engineering.
