Route 19, Connor/Gilkeson Road Improvements Continue Friday Night

Beware of overnight milling and paving.

Work to improve Washington Road (Route 19/3069) and Connor/Gilkeson Road (Route 3038) in Mt. Lebanon continues this week, weather permitting, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0.

Overnight milling and paving (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) will occur according to the following schedule:

  • Friday night, July 12 — Righthand lane closures in each direction will occur on Washington Road from Connor/Gilkeson Road to Ordale Boulevard.
  • Friday night, July 12 — Eastbound lanes on Connor/Gilkeson will be closed from approximately Old Gilkeson Road to East Terrace/Sunridge Drive. All traffic will be maintained in the westbound lanes.

This work was to occur on July 10 and 11 but was postponed due to weather conditions.

Motorists are advised to use caution and be aware of changing traffic patterns when traveling through the work area. Expect delays and allow extra time.

The $5.56-million project includes milling and resurfacing, guiderail, minor drainage, curbs, pavement markings, signing, traffic signals, median removal, ADA ramps and other improvements on 2.55 miles of Washington Road from Connor/Gilkeson to Alfred Street. Work and improvements will also occur on Gilkeson and Connor roads in the area of the Washington Road intersection. Overall work will conclude in early 2014. The prime contractor is Lindy Paving.
