Route 19, Connor/Gilkeson Improvements Continue Friday

Work is planned through 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Work to improve Washington Road (Route 19/3069) and Connor/Gilkeson roads (Route 3038) in Mt. Lebanon will continue this weekend, Sept. 27-30, weather permitting, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0.

Traffic in the northbound lanes on Washington from Connor/Gilkeson to Alfred Street will be shifted into the southbound lanes beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday and lasting until approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday. One lane in each direction will be maintained in the southbound lanes. Crews will be milling and paving.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, traffic will be shifted from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes until Sunday at 6 a.m. Single-lane traffic in each direction from Connor/Gilkeson to Alfred will be maintained in the northbound lanes to allow crews to mill and pave.

Additionally, single-lane closures will occur on Connor/Gilkeson between East Terrace/Sunridge Drive and Old Gilkeson Road as crews place pavement markings.

Motorists are advised to use caution and be aware of changing traffic patterns when traveling through the work area. Expect delays and allow extra time.

PennDOT officials remind motorists to use all open lanes to merge points.

This work is part of a $5.56-million project that includes milling and resurfacing, guiderail, minor drainage, curbs, pavement markings, signing, traffic signals, median removal, ADA ramps and other improvements on 2.55 miles of Washington Road from Connor/Gilkeson to Alfred Street. As part of this project, work and improvements will also occur on Gilkeson and Connor roads in the area of the Washington Road intersection. Overall work will conclude in early 2014.

The prime contractor is Lindy Paving.
