News Nearby: Rock the Quarry Provides Fun for All

The annual event took place this weekend.

Friday kicked off the 11th annual Rock the Quarry event at the panhandle trail in Collier Township.

The free event started at 5 p.m. Friday and wrapped up late last night. The outdoor festival featured live music from a variety of local artists, food, a bonfire, games and other fun activities.

The famous hand-cut fries were amongst the food selection for the event and while locals enjoyed food there was plenty of music to appreciate.

Four bands played Friday night including headlining group, Bill Ali Band at 9 p.m. Music acts played throughout the day yesterday starting at noon and concluded with a blues band, Jill West and Blues Attack.

In addition to music, a science demonstration aimed toward children took place both days in the activities tent and games were held at the Boy Scouts Cub Pack 860 tent.

A lot of ducks were purchased for The Grand Rubber Ducky Race. $500 was awarded for first prize. The race seemed to be fun for both children and adults.
