McLaughlin Run, Fort Couch Roads to See Crack Sealing Through Oct. 11

The work starts on Monday.

McLaughlin Run Road in Upper St. Clair Township, as well as a stretch of Fort Couch Road in Upper St. Clair, will undergo crack and joint sealing operations on weekdays from Sept. 30 through Oct. 11, weather permitting, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0.

Sealing operations will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on those days.

McLaughlin Run will see the work between McMurray Road in Upper St. Clair and Bower Hill Road in Bridgeville Borough. Fort Couch will be affected between McMillan Road and Warwick Drive.

Also affected due to sealing operations over the same time period will be South Park and Baptist roads from McMurray Road in Bethel Park to Brownsville Road in Whitehall Borough.

Crack and joint sealing is a preservation activity that prolongs the life of road surfaces by preventing moisture from entering cracks and joints. Moisture can cause potholes and premature deterioration requiring costly repairs.

Matcon Diamond Inc. will perform the work.

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution, slow down and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the work areas.
