Get Out: Meet Cake Boss or Walk Your Dog for a Good Cause

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Upper St. Clair Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Why Go?: The movie ticket blood drive offers two Carmike movie tickets for all registered donors. Call 412-831-9272 to schedule an appointment for this charitable event.

Where?/When?: , 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: This class will provide potential babysitters with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children. The training will cover basic care, safe play and first aid. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Space is limited.
Pricing: $42.00 C&RC Members; $50.00 USC Resident-Non-Member; $60.00 Surrounding Community Non-Member.

Where?/When?: , 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday
Why Go?: Lace up your boots and spend a few hours with The Outdoor Classroom doing native species plantings, meadow maintenance and invasive removal. It's fun, educational, great for all ages, and makes a big difference in our park ecosystem. Register by e-mailing sara@theoutdoorclassroompa.org.

Where?/When?: Pittsburgh National Aviary, 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Enjoy a ghostly but-not-too-scary evening at the National Aviary, with plenty of fun for children and adults. The evening will include a costume contest, storytelling, crafts, photo opportunities with Barkley, the Eastern screech owl, and appearances by the Aviary’s Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches! Trainers will also fly the Aviary’s owls in the FliteZone Theater, and halls will be decorated to set the mood. Light snacks will be provided and the Aviary’s café will be open for dinner. Pricing: $13 per adult and $11 per child. Members pay $10 per adult and $8 per child.

Why Go?: Indulge in mini spa services, food & fun! Admission benefits Hair Peace Charities, a local organization which provides wigs to people going through chemotherapy.  RSVP by calling Macy's Premier Salon at 412-854-6881.

Where?/When?: South Park, 9 a.m. on Sunday
Why Go?: . The party will be held at South Park's Ethlebert Shelter near the Doggy Park and Gazebo. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Click here to register.
Pricing: $25 per 1st dog/human companion includes 1 T-shirt and 1 bandanna. Additional dogs (no more than 2 per human) are $10 and includes 1 registration and 1 bandanna.

Why Go?: The St. Thomas More Theme Party is a fun afternoon spent with family and friends. There will be chances to prizes, a Chinese auction, a mystery raffle, 50/50, a luncheon and more! All female members of the parish are invited!

Where?/When?: Soldier and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum, 7 p.m. on Sunday
Why Go?: Buddy Valastro, the reality TV star and owner of Carlo's Bake Shop, is back in Pittsburgh for a charity event. Buddy will present his live, two-hour interactive theater show. A portion of the proceeds will go to Family House, Cancer Caring Center and the Magee Womens Research Institute & Foundation.
Pricing: Tickets range from $55 to $65 per person
