Here are ten events happening in Upper St. Clair and the surrounding areas.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Upper St. Clair Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

1.
Where/When: Mt. Lebanon Ice Center, Thursday, 9 to 11 a.m.
Why Go?: This is an on-ice group lesson for adults and children. Refreshments, music and cartoon videos will be provided.
Pricing: $4.25 per person.

2.
Where?/When?: Main St in Carnegie, Thursday to Saturday, Various times.
Why Go?: Come enjoy the Carnegie Arts and Heritage Festival! The festival runs from Sept 8 to 10. The festival is three days of music and entertainment on three stages. The event also features a creative marketplace filled with vibrant arts and crafts, a food court featuring sumptuous ethnic foods and a children’s area to keep the youth entertained all day long! Click here for a full schedule of events.

Where/When: Lowes, Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: Children will build and decorate their own police car using this project kit.

Where?/When?: , Saturday, 10-11 a.m.
Why Go?: Smell the fresh air and stretch your legs at Saturday Outdoors Hikes. These one-hour hikes will cover a different topic each month while following the many beautiful trails around the classroom. These hikes are perfect for all ages and great for family activities that will give everyone a chance to connect with the nature found locally. Call 412-838-0064 to register.

Where/When: , Saturday at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why Go: Bring your sensitive information and have it securely shredded on-site at the east side of the Municipal parking lot. This is a great way to protect yourself from identity theft.
Pricing: $5/Standard Box Carton, $7/Large Box Carton, $0.16 per pound

Where/When: , Saturday, 7 p.m.
Why Go: The 36th Annual USC Marching Band Festival will be held at the high school stadium. The USC Band Parents Assoc. is hosting the festival, which will feature five area high schools, including USC, plus Westminster College. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. In case of rain, the event will be held in the gymnasium.  It should be a fun, enjoyable evening for all.
Pricing: Adults are $5, students are $3.

Where/When:, Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Why Go?: In accordance with Chapter 68 of the Township Code, residents of Upper St. Clair are no longer allowed to place electronics out on the curbside for pick-up. On the second Saturday of each month there will be an e-cycling event in the Township parking lot.
Pricing: Fees may apply to larger items.

Where?/When?: , Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go?: Come sample Bedner's homegrown, farm fresh veggies. You'll love these easy and healthy dishes that are prepared with the farm's seasonal produce and herbs. Recipes will be available to take home. The farm will post will be available to sample every Friday on the Taste of Bedner's Facebook page.

Where/When: South Park, Sunday, 12 to 4 p.m.
Why Go?: The first annual Pittsburgh 9/11 Heroes Run feature a 5 k and 1 mile fun run to honor fallen American heroes . The Travis Manion Foundation's philosophy is to "honor the fallen by challenging the living." The 9/11 Heroes Run exemplifies this philosophy. It is an event that allows anyone to set a reasonable goal and demonstrate their commitment to honoring the sacrifices of our heroes through a physical endeavor - symbolic in nature, but powerful when multiplied individually and by community. Online registration ends Sept. 6, however, there are many ways that you can help the organization.  
Pricing: 5K: $30 Fun Run/Walk: $20, Family Rate: $60

Where?/When?: St. Paul's Episcopal Church Sunday, 6 to 7 p.m.
Why Go?: Refuge at St. Paul’s is hosting a special service of remembrance to not only remember those lost, but join together in creating a world where love, peace and freedom rule in the place of hate, anger, fear and oppression.
