5 Things You May Not Know About Community Day

The third Saturday of May is quickly approaching and that means so is Community Day!

Upper St. Clair's 34th annual Community Day is Saturday, May 19.

All of the popular activities are scheduled again this year—the at 9 a.m., the parade at 11:30 a.m., the fair booths all afternoon.

However, here are five things you may not know about this year's event.

1. The grand marshal of the Community Day will be Dr. Patrick O'Toole, who won . Last year's grand marshal .

2. This year's theme is Pathers in Paradise. Volunteers will wear shirts portraying the theme, some fair booths will be decorated to fit the theme and some floats in the parade will likely have that beachy look. The student council chooses the theme each year.

3. The will have an inflatable safe house for kids to learn and enjoy.

4. The person who for the new Gilfillan Farm scarecrow theme will be recognized at 1 p.m.

5. Some high school students have set up a to be played on the basketball courts next to the municipal building and a sand volleyball tournament on the court behind the for Community Day.
