Connor/Gilkeson Improvements Thursday Through Sunday in Mt. Lebanon

Work in this area continues.

Work to improve Connor/Gilkeson Road at the intersection of Washington Road (Route 19) in Mt. Lebanon, will continue on Thursday night, weather permitting, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in both directions on Connor/Gilkeson from 6 p.m. on Thursday through 6 a.m. on Friday.

Also, the westbound travel lanes on Connor/Gilkeson from approximately East Terrace/Sunridge Drive to Old Gilkeson Road will be shifted into the eastbound lanes beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday and lasting until approximately 8 a.m. on Saturday. One lane in each direction will be maintained in the eastbound lanes, as crews will be milling and paving.

Then, at approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday in the same stretch of road, traffic will be shifted from the eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes until Sunday at 10 a.m. Single-lane traffic in each direction from Old Gilkeson to East Terrace/Sunridge will be maintained in the westbound lanes to allow crews to mill and pave.

Motorists are advised to use caution and be aware of changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. Expect delays and allow extra time.

The $5.56-million project includes milling and resurfacing, guiderail, minor drainage, curbs, pavement markings, signing, traffic signals, median removal, ADA ramps and other improvements on 2.55 miles of Washington Road from Connor/Gilkeson to Alfred Street. Work and improvements will also occur on Gilkeson and Connor roads in the area of the Washington Road intersection. Overall work will conclude in early 2014. The prime contractor is Lindy Paving.
