A South Fayette portion of Boyce Road is scheduled to close from Feb. 27 to March 1, weather permitting.
The work will impact Boyce Road from Lawn Shadow Drive to Summit Ridge Drive.
Southbound motorists are advised to take Washington Pike/Morganaza Road, east on McMurray Road, and north on Route 19 back to Boyce Road. Northbound motorists are advised to use the same detour in reverse.
The $70,000 project will support maintenance on a section of the water main that was originally installed in the early 1950s.
“This project will address a recent history of breaks and service interruptions caused by this aging main,” said Pennsylvania American Water Field Operations Superintendent Greg Hlasnick. “The investment will improve reliability and flows for firefighting.
During construction, the company does not expect disruptions to customers’ service.
Pennsylvania American Water also announced this week the start of construction to replace more than five miles of aging water main in the Pittsburgh area. Clair Drive in Upper St. Clair will be affected.
During the Upper St. Clair construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences. For more information, contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
