Golf Outing to Honor Judge Rob Wyda

The first Annual Robert C. Wyda Memorial Golf Outing, in memory of Bethel Park’s widely respected district judge, will take place at Lindenwood Golf Course in Canonsburg on Friday, October 11, beginning at noon.

Many of Judge Wyda's friends and coworkers have come together just two months after his death to honor his memory with this event.

"When Judge Wyda died unexpectedly in August, he left behind a legacy of integrity and fairness to all who appeared before his bench, and a legacy of loyalty to those who were fortunate to have been his friends," said Robert Gary, former Bethel Park police officer and one of the golf outing's organizers.

"Judge Wyda's death came at a very difficult time for his family, as he was the primary wage-earner and their two children are enrolled in college. We felt that the best way to honor Rob and support his family was to hold a memorial event and direct the proceeds toward assisting Jared and Rachel with their college costs. This inaugural event will be an enjoyable day of golf, dinner, and fellowship and a celebration of Rob’s life and legacy."

Organizers are looking for foursomes, tee sponsors and advertisements for the program. All donations are appreciated; checks payable to the Robert C. Wyda Memorial Fund can be mailed to the fund at 2073 Majestic Drive, Canonsburg, PA 15317. Contact Heather Sherman to register or to make a donation at 412-719-0196 or heathersherman@me.com.
