Upper St. Clair (Finally) Approves Deerfield Manor Plan

The move comes after two tie votes and a court decision.

Upper St. Clair commissioners this week approved a plan for Deerfield Manor that will connect Turnberry Drive, currently a cul-de-sac, to Circle Drive. The vote was 6-0. The move comes after an Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas judge ruled that Turnberry Drive must connect to Circle. The decision went to court after Upper St. Clair commissioners were deadlocked on a revised preliminary subdivision for the residential Deerfield Manor Plan No. 9, repeating a situation that occurred in March 2012, when a tie vote effectively defeated the measure. The approved plan has five new lots varying from 1.17 to 4.4 acres.  About 350 feet of the connection between Turnberry and Circle drives will remain a private road. At least one of the Peters …

See if the decision will affect Upper St. Clair.

Developer Details Apartment Plan Off of Boyce Road

Traffic engineers agree the development will cause a need for Boyce Road improvements, including an additional traffic signal.

Developer John Deklewa detailed the plan to build an apartment complex off of Boyce Plaza Road in Upper St. Clair at the commissioners meeting Monday night. He described the rental complex, called Torrente at Upper St. Clair, as "upscale" and estimated rent for the one- and two-bedroom units would range between $1,200 and $1,800 a month. The plan calls for nine buildings—four would have 30 apartment units and five would have 20 apartment units. Construction would last about two years, and Deklewa hopes to begin in 2013. Deklewa said the apartment neighbors the former Mayview State Hospital, Southwood Psychiatric Hospital and Boyce Mayview Park.  A park and trails are proposed for the area near Boyce Mayview Park and a clubhouse close to …

I mostly agree with you. USC is a nice place to live, with an easy commute to SP (not so much to downtown, but hey- live where you like!) .as long as you do not want the afore mentioned activities. Diversity is an excellent idea- bring on the seniors who pay taxes without burdening the schools. But no singles, please- they might marry and look for a school-based community. heh, heh :)   more ›
