DESCRIPTION: A Day of Fun and Learning Expected at Garden in the Parks Fi
 eld Day\nThe annual Garden in the Parks Field Day sponsored by the Penn 
 State Master Gardeners of Allegheny County is a day of education and fun
  for all ages.&nbsp\; The free event will beheld at the North and South 
 Park Demonstration Gardens on August 18\, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Nor
 th Park Demonstration Garden is located at the intersection of Wildwood 
 Road and Babcock Boulevard.&nbsp\; The South Park garden is at the inter
 section of Corrigan Drive and McConkey Road.\nThe day features guided to
 urs of the annual flower trials\, pollinator gardens and herb gardens\, 
 children&rsquo\;s activities\, and information on native pollinators\, h
 erbs\, compostingand rain barrels.&nbsp\; Stations will be set up where 
 visitors can sample different varieties of garlic\, basil\, tomatoes\,an
 d vinegars and vote on their favorites.&nbsp\; Visitors will have a chan
 ce to talk with local beekeepers and learn about raising bees and harves
 ting honey.&nbsp\; Also\, master gardeners will be on hand to answer que
 stions\, diagnose problems\, and identify plants.\nThose interested in c
 anning\, drying or freezing their garden&rsquo\;s bounty can speak with 
 a Penn StateMaster Food Preserver who will answer any questions about th
 e process of preserving fresh fruits and vegetables.&nbsp\; Free testing
  of the pressure cooker dial gauges also will be offered.\nMaster garden
 erswill be selling their own fresh produce\, and an assortment of perenn
 ials\, fresh cut flowers\, and gardening items at the garden market.\nSo
