The chess program runs from Oct. 20 to Nov. 17. Children in grades 1 through 8 are invited to learn how to master the game of chess. There will be a mini chess tournament following the completion of the six week program.

The USC Library is located in the rear of the municipality building. It holds about 100,000 items that can be used for recreational and educational purposes. Our son was taking the chess class in October and unfortunately he did not have a good experience! The person who teaching this class, older gentleman, Eric Berthoud very unstable person, he accused our son of taking something, and he was very rude and angry, he was yelling at my husband and everything ended up with police. Since my son did not take anything and this teacher found his things after all, he didn’t admit that he was wrong and he continues teaching next class! On top of everything library personnel decided not get involved even after one of them witnessed how he was yelling at my son. Apparently it is more important to to be nice to your employee than follow rules. That is one of the most unprofessional classroom environments. If you do not want your kid to be traumatized by someone how is very unstable I would never recommend this class. Also employees of the library should not be taking side of unstable person and not trying to resolve the issue the way it should be resolved.
