Woman With 45 Traffic Citations Sent to Jail

Latest citation issued by Upper St. Clair police.

A woman from Washington, PA must spend 30 days in jail after receiving her 45th traffic citation.

Upper St. Clair police recently pulled over Harbeth Hayes, of Washington, PA, for passing a school bus. The officer then discovered Hayes was driving with a suspended license that expired five years ago.

PennDOT sent the Upper St. Clair police the paperwork from 45 traffic citations to which Hayes had never responded. The amount of paperwork was so large, PennDOT couldn't send it electronically.

"It's the first time I of heard of that in 12 years," district Judge Wyda said.

Hayes is serving her time in the Allegheny County Jail.
