It appears the vandalism hasn't stopped in Upper St. Clair.
On Saturday morning, a number of residents along Hidden Timber Drive woke up to damaged mailboxes.
"These vandals should be caught and brought to justice. The behavior is childish and immature. When you destroy property, you have broken the law," said Laura Whitcomb, a victim to the vandalism.
Another woman nearby reportedly heard noise at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, but didn't bother to look out the window. Now she wishes she had.
In July, the Upper St. Clair police alerted residents to a rash of vandalism through the new emergency notification system, USC Notify. A broken stained-glass window at St. Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church and a punctured garage door were among the reported incidents.
Messages left for police this week were not returned.
What is your take on the vandalism in Upper St. Clair? Has there been less since this summer? Have you been a victim? Tell us in the comments.

Yes I did, we also received a love letter 2 days later threatening to burn a cross in my yard. What is sad is for a township of 7500 homes and 34 sworn peace officers they do not take the time and community police. And what I mean is they don't park there car and walk through the neighborhoods. I am not sayin they must do it each pass. But they should. Start looking oh there be a good hiding spot and check them spots. Some of it I would attribute to kids being kids who need a good swift kick in the rear. Others it may be oh I want and I can't afford. This is one reason I put a tomato by my mail box so if people do not grow them or have fresh veggies they can have without feeling like they have to steal. I grew up dirt poor in west Virginia and when it is stolen it hurts. Because if someone needs all they have to do is ask. I would never turn a man away if they where hungry and if I have something in my yard and I have extras I would share. This is how I was reared. My home is my castle my security. And it is gone. In my 39 years of living this is the first time I have been a victim of a crime is when I moved into Upper St Clair. Vandalism has been going on for 8 years. I had a flag of the state of wva that can never be replaced, for it flew over check point Charlie, I had a American flag stolen 2 years ago that has touched down on 6 of the 7 continents. My uncle who is the US Air Force did this for me. Other objects that have been stolen where gifts from my late grandma.

I get upset when you hear the Police don't do nothing. Unfortunately there is nothing they can do. You need witness. And If you do not have they are unable to obtain warrants. Criminals don't have all the rights. We all do. As black stone once said its better to leave 99 guilty people free than to execute 1 innocent person. People also need to realize Safety is your own response ability. All you have to do is google Gonzales state of Colorado and you will see what I mean. The police are not here to protect any 1 person. They do not even have to respond to a 911 call US Supreme court says so. So you see it saddens me that our community is failing each and everyone of us by not reporting suspecious people!

We also received information that a Brookside Farms resident had a ladder stolen from a private backyard three weeks ago.

It's sad that no one pays attention or wishes to be involved. It is sad day. This is not the America I was brought up to believe in. Whatever happen to helping ones neighbor? And looking out for one another. It truly is sad state

@ Becky I am very happy to say the police deptarment does take the vandlism and theft serious. I have seen a increase in Police patrols through the area. There are a lot of good officers who would like nothing more than to catch who every is doing this. But they need all our help. I can personally vouch for them especially mr. Murphy, mr Klein, me beadle (he reminds me of Beatle bailey) and mr Bly. Report what you see or here. If you are walking your dog and you hear bubba on the phone bragging that he hit a home run report it, if you hear I got a single or a double or struck out report it. These are all terms used in mailbox smashing. They call it baseball. If people want to really see who is doin it put bricks in your mailboxes at night

If someone is driving and swings and connects with a mailbox with bricks you will hear them scream for there mommy. Turn on outdoor lights, thrives hate light to easy to be noticed and recognized. These are steps that I have heard that works Espically the bricks in the mail box! Just remember to remove them in the morning

Sadly the mailbox vandalism isn't new. High school kids have been doing that for decades.
Theft isn't nearly as common but in the 90's when there were gypsies(newspapers word not mine) going around stealing while people were out back, it was an issue.
Of course we are a bit 'ripe for the pickin' many people in USC don't really spend the time worrying about valuables left out or around as they might in other neighborhoods where theft is more common.

And per a Police official we Live In a protective township. Don't really want to know what he is thinking but it's real and I wish he would get his head out of the sand. And the chief of police is very concered. Because as he states it makes the community feel on edge of what is next. And it sucks.

Today I went to postal inspector and filed complaint with the letter I received. It saddens me the behavior of residents and the children. I hardly every heat anyone say Please and thank you. I see these kids and residents just take and no one ever gives back. It saddens me when I see EMS & Police treated with disrespect. Do you see a pattern here? If we have no respect for ourselves don't teach respect to our children this is why we have the stupidity running around now. And poor grandma sitting wonder what did she do to deserve someone beating her mail box or stealing from her.
