Upper St. Clair Community Remembers Fall Victim

The funeral arrangements for Andrew Guzzi have been revealed.

--

The Upper St. Clair community is mourning the loss of a 2005 Upper St. Clair High School graduate who died from a three-story fall off a fire escape in the South Side early Sunday.

Principal Michael Ghilani said he spoke with many of the teachers at the school Monday and they all agreed that Guzzi "had a great sense of humor, was always very, very respectful, and just had a really great personality."

After graduating from Upper St. Clair High School, Guzzi went on to Washington & Jefferson College where he earned degrees in psychology and business.

Most recently, Guzzi lived in Dormont and worked as a sales executive and verification officer with Global Vacation Network.

"Guzzi will be remembered ... as a man with zest for life and an ebullient personality who worked hard and who was passionate about Pittsburgh and all that it has to offer, from its trendy restaurants to clubs to its historic sports teams.

He drew people to him with his energy and sense of fun; he was ideally suited to a career in sales and marketing which he pursued with intensity," stated Guzzi's obituary.

His favorite saying was, "Life is short—live it."

Guzzi is survived by his parents and sister, who live in Upper St. Clair.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, and 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Beinhauer Funeral Home in Peters Township.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Memorial contributions in memory of Guzzi may be made to Animal Friends of Pittsburgh, because of the many volunteer hours Guzzi performed with Animal Friends Pet Assisted Therapy. Click here to donate.

My heart goes out to the family! I know the next few days will be very trying for them. I see 1-8pm on Thursday and that is a very long viewing, I would hope they take a break in the middle. As someone with lots of experience being on the 'receiving' side of a viewing, 7 hours would be brutal.

Thank you for the concern for my family. I know what we are capable of and I would like my family to be able to grieve as we want. Again, if you knew my son, you would understand.
