Upper St. Clair Boy Becomes YouTube Sensation
The mother videotaped her 7 year old with her iPhone as she waited for his anesthesia to wear off at Children's Hospital.
As Matt Russell's anesthesia was wearing off after doctors reset his bones and applied a full-arm cast in the Children's Hospital emergency room, he was making his parents and grandmother "laugh so hard."
"He just started talking really funny and really loud and we pulled out our phones," said Jennifer Russell, Matthew's mother. "We were laughing so hard. We were like, 'We just have to get this on tape.'"
Matt kept telling them that he was "dizzay" and asked his grandmother, "Why is there two of you?"
Jennifer uploaded the video to her Facebook page to share with family and friends, and that's when some of her friends urged her to put the video on YouTube.
She did, and apparently many others fell in love with the cute Eisenhower Elementary student as well.
Five days later, the video's been viewed 1.5 million times!
"I just keep saying to people this is crazy. We're shocked in how quickly it's spread," Jennifer said. "It's the first thing I've ever put on YouTube."
Jennifer said she had seen the "David After Dentist" YouTube video before—the one that has garnered more than 111 million views in the past three years—but she wasn't thinking about it while she taped her son.
Meantime, Jennifer said her son is recovering well from his injury and thinks his newfound fame is pretty cool and exciting.
His five brothers and sisters are also enjoying watching the number climb on YouTube.
Jennifer said two more videos of Matt might be coming soon to YouTube—that is if her husband ever figures out how to upload them from his cell phone.
