Township Honors Eagle Scout

Joseph Marion Starr's project took place at Boyce Mayview Park.

If you ever need a rest while hiking through Boyce Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair, Joseph Marion Starr might be the guy you should be thanking.

Starr recently put in more than 200 hours installing six benches at the park with other volunteers.

"It was pretty tough, but we got it done," Starr said.

After the project, Starr earned his Eagle Scout.

Starr received a proclamation from the Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners earlier this month.

Starr is a senior at Upper St. Clair High School. He has also participated in cross country, lacrosse, studen council and the Thai exchange program.

He also volunteers his time at a local retirement community and has been a Camp Notre Dame counselor.
