The Flower Studio a Sweet Addition to Upper St. Clair

Providing 'dessert bars' of flowers for school dances and cakes made of flowers for birthdays, The Flower Studio allows customers to be creative and unique.

Custom, custom, custom—that's what The Flower Studio is all about, according to owners Bob and Cindy Parknavy.

The studio set up a "dessert bar" of flowers, bracelets, gems, ribbons and even butterflies for Upper St. Clair High School students to customize their corsages and boutonnières for the Homecoming dance. They hope to provide the same service before the next high school dance.

Designers also create birthday cakes made of flowers—delivered in a cake box with candles.

"It's calorie free!" Cindy said.

"What a great thing for people who can't have cake," Bob said.

Bob and Cindy opened The Flower Studio in Crossgates Plaza on the corner of Washington and Fort Couch roads in May, and they are now busily preparing for their first holiday season in Upper St. Clair.

The studio's floral designers—with more than 25 years experience—can work with customers to decorate front doors, tablescapes and more, they said.

Super premium poinsettias, all from local vendors, are for sale for as low as $45.

"We try to deal with as many local distributors as we can," Cindy said.

Bob and Cindy are 13-year residents of Upper St. Clair. Cindy grew up nearby in Scott Township.

Being very familiar with the area, they saw a need for another floral shop.

"Upper St. Clair has just welcomed us with open arms," Cindy said. "It's nice to be able to help people and see everyone smiling as they walk out the door."

"Especially when we deliver," Bob said. "That's what we do, we deliver smiles."

Along with owning The Flower Studio, Bob is owner of Parknavy Advertising on Washington Pike in Collier Township and Cindy is director of integrated media at Clear Channel Communications.

They also have an 8-year-old son, Robby, who likes to help out at the studio and ride with Bob on deliveries.

Sounds like a great addition to the community! If what I heard is true, too bad that they will be getting kicked out of Crossgates Plaza along with all of the other businesses as CVS bought the building and will be moving across the street.

Hello Michael....please stop in and say hello! Yes....it appears that we will only be in our current location until the end of April, 2014. The good news is, we're quickly outgrowing our beautiful space and we're already having conversations regarding some larger space in the neighborhood!

Lisa...we're sorry that you feel that way. If you've been in recently, some of our fresh & silk arrangements, on display and prepared for the holidays, are very traditional. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, we had literally dozens of orders for many traditional Thanksgiving centerpieces including beautiful fresh flower/fruit cornucopias! We feel that classic beauty is never out of style for the holidays! Our contemporary Thanksgiving centerpieces utilizing fresh wheat, sunflowers, gourds , etc were very well received and actually sold out!!!! Regarding modern floral design, we recently competed against four large and very well respected city florists for a prestigious corporate event in town. Our very contemporary design was chosen for the event and we produced 50 stunning centerpieces! From that one event, we have booked other corporate event work calling for very unique & contemporary designs! We hope you give us another look soon...Thank you
