Second Annual Gala Preparations Under Way

The Upper St. Clair School District fundraiser will be held on Oct. 20.

Preparations are under way for the Second Annual "Celebrate Our Schools" Gala on Oct. 20.

The Upper St. Clair School District fundraiser is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Upper St. Clair

All proceeds from the event will benefit technology for the district both in the classrooms and on the field. Money will be used to invest in new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) labs at the high school and purchasing iPads. The funds will also be used to buy a new PA system for Panther Stadium, which some say it desperately needs.

Last year the event was held during homecoming weekend. The date was changed because it conflicted with Saturday night's homecoming dance.

This year, the 1989 Upper St. Clair High School football team will be recognized for being chosen for the WPIAL Hall of Fame.

Organizers will also recognize the 1988 team, who may have also won the state championship if it weren't for the school board voting against paying for the trip.

Another change this year, local band Moscow Mule will be playing live music throughout the night.

Tickets will cost $100. There will be food, a cash bar and a large silent auction. If you have any items you can donate to the auction—tickets for shows or games, gift cards, etc.—please contact Melissa Epler at melissaepler@gmail.com or Kathy Teresi at ksteresi@gmail.com.

And for other questions about the event, please contact Director of Advancement Liz Hall at LHall@uscsd.k12.pa.us.

Will you attend the gala? Why or why not? Tell us in the comments.

It would be nice if some of the funds went to repair the range for the Rifle Team.
