Police Arrest Suspected South Hills Village Purse Snatcher

The latest from the office of Magisterial District Judge Robert Wyda.

 

A woman accused of stealing another woman's purse in the lower level public restroom in South Hills Village was held for trial on Monday.

Kathie Ann Schade, 31, of Larimer, is charged with one count false identification to law enforcement authority.

Through interviews, Upper St. Clair police identified Schade as a purse theft suspect on Nov. 26, according to a criminal complaint filed with district Judge Robert Wyda's office. When an officer asked for her identification, she told him a different name and Social Security number, the officer stated. She willingly gave her purse to police, according to the officer, where police found an ID that was not Schade.

Wanted Man Arrested at Kings
John Anthony McGarity, 27, of Bethel Park, was arraigned on Monday. Upper St. Clair police arrested McGarity at Kings Family Restaurant after receiving information that he was wanted by the Allegheny County police. A search during the arrest turned up suspected marijuana and a glass pipe, according to the criminal complaint.

Sleeping in Baker Park
Drew Richard Monning, 33, of Upper St. Clair, was held for trial Monday on two drug charges. Upper St. Clair police stated in a criminal complaint that Monning was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle in Baker Park on Morrow Road on Jan. 4. It took several knocks on the windows to wake up Monning and suspected heroin in a syringe on the center console was found, according to the complaint.

Charged with Trespass
The case against Vitaliy Ivashchenko, 25, of Venetia, was continued Monday. Ivashchenko is charged with defiant trespass at a Pinehurst Drive address; loitering and prowling at night; harassment; disorderly conduct; and public drunkenness.
