Pittsburgh Penguins Recall Upper St. Clair Hockey Player
Pens recalled defenseman Dylan Reese Wednesday night from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton It was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero, an Upper St. Clair resident.
Executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero, of Upper St. Clair, announced Wednesday night that the Pittsburgh Penguins recalled defenseman Dylan Reese Wednesday night from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The roster move came a short time after the Pens traded defenseman Ben Lovejoy to Anaheim in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2014.
Reese, 28, spent the entire season with WBS, scoring with 15 points in 39 AHL games, according to the Pittsburgh Penguins website.
A 6-foot, 205-pound defenseman, Reese had appeared in 74 career NHL games with the New York Islanders. He was originally drafted by the New York Rangers after playing hockey at Harvard.
In a prior interview with Patch, Reese said his love for hockey began on the streets of Upper St. Clair.
"I was inspired by Mario Lemieux and the Pens of the early '90s," Reese told Patch in 2011. "They're the reason I played hockey."
The USC native becomes the fourth local player to play for his hometown team, joining Ryan Malone, Bill Thomas and Nate Guenin, according to the Pens.

Congratulations Dylan! This is so inspiring to a lot of the boys (and girls) from USC who see someone from their own community making it to the Big Show.
