Pig on Parkway Gets a Squeal Out of Drivers
A little piggy seen running on the Parkway West near Green Tree created quite a stir and backed-up traffic during Wednesday morning’s commute into Pittsburgh.
Why did the pig cross the Parkway? Apparently to go “wee wee wee” all the way home. The piggy going to market, however, apparently took the bus.
The little pig seen running on the Parkway West near Green Tree created quite a stir and backed-up traffic during Wednesday morning’s commute into Pittsburgh.
A motorist tweeted a photo of the animal running on the inbound lanes that immediately went viral and caused a commotion on social media websites. It also led to jokes from people suggesting the city be renamed Pigsburgh in honor of the loose swine.
No one is sure how the “Pig on the Parkway” found its way onto the highway or where it went, not even PennDOT workers monitoring the situation from traffic cameras.
“No one here saw the pig, only the subsequent congestion,” PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi said. “We were not involved.”
However, he admitted that the barrage of tweets and media inquiries did lead to “lots of barbeque jokes” this morning.

It was so hot out there, you would think that piggy was bake-in'. But apparently he was hamming it up on the Pork-way West.
