'Perks' Actor Faces Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

It was 'bad timing' for actor and New Jersey native Ezra Miller, township police said.

Ezra Miller, 18, of Hoboken, N.J., was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Peters Township police Wednesday at approximately 11:30 p.m. for a traffic violation at the 2800 block of Washington Road, near Pizzaz and Simmons Farm Market.

The officer saw Miller lighting a cigarette while stopped and detected a strong odor of burning marijuana once he approached the vehicle, according to Peters police Capt. Michael Yanchak.

Police noted "brown, vegetable material" in Miller's lap. A further search revealed a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana, rolling papers and marijuana in Miller's jacket.

Township police report he's facing marijuana possession charges.

Miller plays Patrick in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," starring Emma Watson, which features scenes shot in the Peters Township School District, including a scene filmed Friday afternoon at the high school. The film is based off of a book written by the director and Upper St. Clair native Stephen Chbosky.

Miller has appeared in the film "City Island," the TV series "Royal Pains," on the Showtime original series "Californication" and on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
