Hopefully for non-residents! Still reeling from the tax increase on residents from the huge burden created by the non-referrendum (legal??) debt foisted on taxpayers to create this white elephant! Tax increase + resident fees > non-resident fee!

Please don't ask for anymore money from the resident members. The more we spend as members the less we enjoy.

The parks and recreation committee should seriously consider a rate reduction for residents of Upper St. Clair. What really should be implemented is a rate reduction of 5% per year for every year a person was a resident of Upper St. Clair after the 10th year of residency. That would reward the long term residents who have paid outlandishly high taxes over the years and not the johnny come latelys who move to Upper St. Clair just for their child's schooling and then move when their children graduate.

Rates are high enough, don't increase.

Two ways to increase revenue for the rec center, raise rates or increase membership. If the membership isn't growing, that is where they should start. There is plenty of capacity left and untold opportunities to attract new members.

Glenn, the article doesn't say a word about whether membership has increased over the past couple of years, but based on the fact that the pool is filled to capacity on nearly every warm day (making it impossible to enjoy), I'd say it has definitely increased significantly. For that reason, I have been considering getting rid of my membership, as have a few friends of mine. If rates go up, the decision will be made for me, and I am guessing many others as well. The real decision should be whether or not to build an addition to the pool; one intended for people over the age of eight. If they do that, then an increase will be justified.

Glenn, with all due respect you show you again show you have no true understanding of the USC Rec Center nor do most that post on here. Glenn, did you attend any the many, many meetings that took place in the past decade regarding the USC Rec Center or will you attend Monday night? Capacity? Do you understand this at all? The only locations in the center that are pay as you go are the fitness areas, gyms and pools. All other areas are for "community group" usage. This includes the lobby area. I see tons of groups using those rooms for free as designed. These areas replaced rooms in the township building that were used by groups. If I remember correctly, the pools were designed to be effiecient in both water amount usage and treatment(chemicals, heating). Not money pits like Dormont, South Hills YMCA, Mt. Lebo, Scott and so on. No other clubs in the area like our USC Rec Center have an outdoor pool. Why is that? They are money pits. The onjly reason there is an outdoor pool is because a group got together in the final hours before a vote on the center years ago. I am sure you were not there at that time as well. Now you want to add more to the outdoor and not raise rates but charge the Township to creat more revenue. You are truly lost on this one and have no understanding of the center. Let's build more, make cost less and charge the township to run a business with an elected body that only is concerned with reelection. Brilliant, just brilliant. Run for office.

Bud, I read that the USC Rec Center has been running with a surplus. Where did you get your info for "needed revenue"? Seems like a bunch of folks really are misinformed.

I would think that a well run organization review their structures every year. I don't know about you or your purchases but the price for any apple product goes up almost yearly despite record earnings. Why would the USC Rec Center be any different?

I am at the USC Rec Center almost 5 days a week and the service/facilities destroy my experiences at both the JCC and the Y(as if there is even any comparison). I paid more at those places for less, much less. We are really lucky to have this and I am starting to think we are underappreciating what we get.
