New Year's Eve 2010: Drink Ideas

Impress your guests with these drink recipes from a local bartender

New Year's Eve is quickly approaching. There are only a few days left to prepare for your guests. Here are two drink ideas that are sure to please, courtesy of local a bartender, Michael Marino.

New Year's Kiss
Your favorite sparkling wine
1 tsp. of your favorite berry-flavored jam
1/4 oz. Chambord

In a champagne flute, pour Chambord over the jam. Top with sparkling wine and toast the beginning of 2011 with your special someone and those you hold dearest!

Oatmeal Cookie
2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
2 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
1/4 oz. Goldschlager Cinnamon Schnapps

Pour ingredients into ice-filled cocktail shaker, shake and pour. Batch makes five shots or one serious drink. Marino suggests pouring the mixture into chocolate shot glasses. He says you can buy them at Giant Eagle Market District or make your own using plastic cups or an ice cube tray.

"It's the little things that makes your party different," Marino said.

Michael Marino is a bartender at Stonepepper's on Washington Road. You may also know him as "Bartender Extraordinaire." Marino is an Upper St. Clair resident and a 1996 graduate of Upper St. Clair High School.
