New Mexican Restaurant in Upper St. Clair Opening Soon

Stop by to apply for a job.

After four months of hard work, the doors will finally open at a new Mexican restaurant on Painters Run Road in Upper St. Clair.

Cinco will welcome customers on Oct. 4.

A variety of traditional Mexican items will be available for purchase, including alcoholic beverages like margaritas.

Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 12 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Restaurant Manager Hugo Montanez, of Crafton, is opening the restaurant with his sister and brother-in-law. He said they were attracted to the nice area and realized there were very few nearby Mexican options for customers.

Montanez is still looking for restaurant employees. If you're interested, stop by the restaurant at 1600 Painters Run Road between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to apply.

And it will sadly probably fail. That location is cursed for restaurants.

So excited! Their sister restaurant, in Downtown Pittsburgh, is one of my husband's favorites.

I will love a true Mexican restaurant ! I'm from Southern California and miss good south of the boarder food. Bring on the huevos rancharos, carnitas, chicken mole, carne asada, pescado Veracruzano, chile relleno......my mouth is watering. I can hardly wait. Best luck and no negative vibes, please!

Awesome! We need a good Mexican restaurant in USC. I think it depends on the quality of the restaurant if it fails or not. It's not just the location. Good luck!

@bryan. Obviously since you can see the future what stock should I invest in. Walt's Tavern was successful in that location for over 100 years. Instead of dismissing them before they open why not try and support them after they do. Having already sampled the Chef's food I can tell you it is authentic Mexican and delicious. Viva CINCO. October can't come fast enough for me.

I didn't say I want it to fail! I am just saying, over the last decade, we have had restaurant after restaurant fail in that location. I hope they do well but they have the deck stacked against them already. They will be competing for patrons with a whole hose of restaurants just down the street in the Galleria and also just up the road in uptown.

I would LOVE a good Mexican restaurant and hope it stays but it will be a challenge. They really will need to stand out in order to keep the crowd coming.

Personally, I am counting down until Oct 4th. With this simple story I think there has been more notice of this restaurant coming in than the last 3 combined. Finally, some good mexican between Mt Lebanon and Peters!

We live around the corner and are so excited for this restaurant to open. This was a thriving location years ago when it was Walt's Tavern, and it's also nice that it's accessible and has easy parking. We're counting the days.

Years ago, I remember a mall location (I lived in another state then) that went through restaurant after restaurant -- fail, fail, fail, at least a half dozen times. When Outback moved there, it was highly successful even though it wasn't the only Outback in the area. While location is important, management quality is essential.
