Model Train Set on Display
An Upper St. Clair man helped create the miniature train set that is weaving its way through the Bridgeville Area Historical Society until Jan. 5.
A miniature train is weaving its way through a model built to resemble Bridgeville in the 1950s.
The model trail will be on display inside the caboose at the Bridgeville Area Historical Society from now until Jan. 5.
Larry Godwin of Bridgeville gave Patch a tour of all the neat buildings and gave the train for a brief spin around the tracks.
The American Flyer train set, which is 60 years old and was donated by former Bridgeville resident Dana Spriggs, is free to enjoy, although donations are being accepted to help the historical society and they're raffling off a N-Track style train. Other people, including Lou Delach of Upper St. Clair, Rich Pentak, of South Fayette, and Troy Martin, who is a freshman at South Fayette, either donated the miniature buildings or helped build the set.
The miniature Bridgeville has old buildings like the former Colussy Chevy on Baldwin, Central Restaurant and Blair Pharmacy. It also has current shops such as the Dari Delite and Sarasnick Hardware.
It weaves through Kirawan Heights, Bridgeville and even the Cuddy No. 2 Mine in South Fayette.
The Bridgeville Area Historical Society is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on weekends from 1 to 4 p.m.
