Kristin Cavallari Attends Marine Corps Ball with Upper St. Clair Man
U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jonathan Burkett says he was "amazed" when the famous actress accepted his invitation.
Reality star-turned-actress Kristin Cavallari kept her Twitter promise and accompanied U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jonathan Burkett, of Upper St. Clair, to the Marine Corps Ball.
"It was a blast," Burkett said. "She was very nice and joked with the whole table."
Burkett asked Cavallari back in August to be his date to the Marine Corps Ball on Nov. 17 over Twitter.
"I always had a crush on her. She's very beautiful for sure," Burkett said. "I really didn't think she would write back at all. I was amazed she wrote back so fast. Couldn't believe it."
Burkett said he wasn't too nervous about his big date until he was on the phone with Cavallari's publicist trying to meet up at the ball, and when Burkett realized Cavallari was just a few feet in front of him, he said the nerves kicked in.
However, the night went smoothly and all had a great time. Burkett said a lot of the girls at the ball were coming up to Cavallari and asking for pictures.
Cavallari said she would have had a couple drinks at the ball, but she had to wake up early the next morning to practice a new routine for the Dancing With the Stars finale on Monday.
She offered to take Burkett and his friends out for a night in Los Angeles in the future. And her boyfriend, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, was apparently OK with date.
"Thanks man. She is the best. We appreciate all your sacrifices. Let me know if I can ever help with anything," replied Cutler in a tweet to Burkett.
In addtion, Cutler sent a signed jersey to Burkett's home in Upper St. Clair.
"I feel lucky," Burkett said.
After the night, Cavallari tweeted that she "had a great time at the marine ball."
"I'm going to try to stay in touch with her," Burkett said.
Burkett is a 2005 graduate of Upper St. Clair High School and joined the Marines almost two years ago.
"I love my country and will do anything to protect my family and friends," Burkett said.
He's anxious to return to Upper St. Clair for a visit on Christmas.

I think it was an incredibly kind thing for Kristin Cavallari to do. The date was a special ending to a fabulous welcome home from Jon's first deployment.
