District to Meet With Parents on Making Streams an All-IB School
Two open microphone sessions are scheduled.
The sessions are scheduled on Aug. 31 and Sept. 19 in the Boyce Middle School LGI at 7 p.m. Each meeting will feature a presentation regarding the possibility of offering only the Primary Years International Baccalaureate Program and no longer offering the traditional program starting the 2012-13 school year. A question and answer session, as well as an opportunity for discussion, will follow the presentation.
According to Superintendent Patrick O'Toole, the IB Primary Years Program, offered only at Streams Elementary in the Upper St. Clair School District, is becoming increasingly popular. Participation has grown from 20 percent of the students at Streams to 80 percent.
If the decision to make Streams Elementary an all-IB school goes into effect, it is unknown at this time where the students in the traditional program would go. However, Dr. O'Toole has said Baker Elementary has the lowest enrollment in the district.
Parents who plan to attend the open microphone sessions are asked to RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
