A fire in Bethel Park closed a number of businesses on Saturday, March 16.

Fire crews are investigating what caused a fire in a business building located at the corner of Broughton and Library roads in Bethel Park.

The fire started likely in the basement of the building shortly at 8 a.m. Saturday, according to Yoga Innovations owner Claire Baer. Her staff member called 911 when smoke was spotted billowing above the U.S. Film Crew storefront.

Cynthia Fickley owns a tax preparation business in the building that caught fire. She said the fire started in an addition put onto the building located behind her business. The landlord lives in an apartment above U.S. Film Crew and was out of town for the weekend.

Firefighters told Fickley it looked like there wasn't too much damage inside her office and they were able to recover her computers.

Lisa Blassio owns the Home and Office Consignment Gallery at the other end of the building.

"It's scary, it's your livelihood," she said.

Nobody was hurt in the fire.

Some other businesses in the building include Fellini's Pizzeria and Bethel Park Flowers.

Along with the Bethel Park Fire Department, crews from Upper St. Clair, Castle Shannon and Pleasant Hills were also on the scene.
